Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
Even if you didn’t like the series (though I have no idea how that could be possible), you should still check out the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie trailer. The trailer really gives me some hope that the movie has maintained the spirit of the original series.
I’m so incredibly excited about this movie… The first trailer I saw made me depressed, because it seemed they had lost the spirit of the series. This trailer brings my hope right back, though.
Just as an FYI: The script for this movie was written by Douglas Adams before his death, though I’m sure it’s been edited and hollywoodized a little. But the new “bad guy” and other touches were introduced by Adams- just as the radio drama differs from the books which both differ from the BBC TV series, Adams has always intended to alter the story to different formats. I can’t wait!
Paradoxdruid - March 13th, 2005 at 3:25 pmWow, I didn’t realize that the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie”:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371724/ was actually written by “Douglas Adams”:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0010930/ — I’m surprised since he died back in 2001… guess he really had been thinking about it.
Teisha - March 13th, 2005 at 6:59 pm(Not surprisingly, he also did some work with Monty Python — apparently he wrote a 1974 episode for their “Flying Circus”:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063929/ , entitled “Party Political Broadcast on Behalf of the Liberal Party.” )
Teisha - March 13th, 2005 at 7:00 pmHe wrote the movie. Over and over and over again. That was sorta the delay. He was never happy with the script, so he had to die before it would get to the production stage.
Y’all should read Neil Gaiman’s biography of him, “Don’t Panic”. Has lots of nifty stuff in it (like the Kamikaze Skit).
The link for the trailer doesn’t work for me.
Owen - March 13th, 2005 at 8:05 pmThanks for the info, Teisha and Owen!
I fixed the link– it had an extra http:// in front of it.

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
