Exalted has made me its Bitch

So, I finally broke down and bought Exalted: the Fair Folk, a RPG supplement for (amazingly enough) the Exalted line of roleplaying games… It’s really good, and has viciously rekindled my love for RPGs.
Just to make things clear:

  • RPGs are games where you sit down around a table with friends and tell a story, where each person gets to control the actions, thoughts, and motivations of one character in the story. It’s a lot of fun.
  • Exalted is a game where you play demi-gods in the mythical world of Creation. It’s inspired by martial arts Wuxia films, Greek legends, video games like Final Fantasy, and stories of Conan the Barbarian.
  • The Fair Folk are referred to as such because you don’t want to say their real names and risk drawing their attention. They are twisted agglutinations of raw Essence from the endless Chaos outside of Creation, who sometimes take on form to feed on the dreams and passions of humanity. Well, some of them. Some of them kind of took on shape and got “stuck”… used to Creation, sane laws and physical rules, and have become something in-between normal people and ravening gods of chaos.

This is all terribly neat to me, and I’m dying to get to roleplay again… which could be some time.
