Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
I thought I’d start a thread to spread the joy that people receive every single day from their favorite websites… websites like Craigslist!(I’m giving the Denver/Boulder link because I know most of you are from that area.) I’m sure you all know about Craigslist (or if you don’t, you must run and check it out NOW, quickly before dying and withering away from pure shame), but I thought I’d share a few reasons why I think it’s so awesome and joy-filling:
Anyway, I’m a bit addicted to craigslist, so I thought I’d spread it along.
Another must check-out website for geeks is Slashdot, News for Nerds. Updated continuously every day by it’s own members, it can keep you pretty much up-to-date on all the latest techy news. Again, if you haven’t seen it (and I know it’s more esoteric than craigslist), check it out!
I also dig the Newsmap a lot for general news online — there are a lot of other news pages organized like this one, but I really love the general appearance and layout of this page.
Anybody else know of some links that fill their every day with joy?
How about albany?
Josh - June 21st, 2005 at 8:55 pmHow about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EvoWiki ?
Josh - June 21st, 2005 at 8:57 pm1) Google, of course, but I’m sure you knew that. toolbar.google.com for us real google addicts.
2) http://www.gamedev.net for game development info
3) http://www.slickdeals.net and http://www.spoofee.com for deals on stuff
4) http://www.tomshardware.com and http://www.anandtech.com for hardware reviews/info
5) http://www.rottentomatoes.com for movie reviews (they accumulate all the reviews, and give a % of positive reviews)
And one I had forgotten I bookmarked a while back: the slashdot article generator (they seem so real…):

Google Toolbar? Bah! Someone isn’t using “Firefox”:http://www.getfirefox.com (built-in Google toolbar) with “AdBlock”:http://adblock.mozdev.org/ For shame. 😉
That slashdot article generator is hilarious.

Josh - June 27th, 2005 at 11:18 amCiteSeer seems similar to the excellent “Google Scholar”:http://scholar.google.com . Do you find it better for any particular reason?
Paradoxdruid - June 27th, 2005 at 1:42 pmAre you a Wikipedian? Interested in sociology, technotranscendentalism, statistics, or feminism/Africa/poverty? If yes then this link may be interesting:

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.ÂÂ
