Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
Unfortunately, I can’t offer you a real tribble, but my family is looking for some good homes, or just one good home, for our guinea pigs and thought I’d try here…I don’t mean to turn this into a classifieds ad, but I really don’t want to have to take the guinea pigs down to the local pet store as we’ve done so many times before. Basically, we have five guinea pigs (in addition to a huge menagerie of dogs, cats, birds, chickens, fish, amphibians, and an ancient horse) and have been breeding guinea pigs for nearly two decades now, but since I’ll be moving to Santa Barbara soon (yay!) my parents really need a lighter work load. I thought this would be a good place to try and find a home for them before ultimately taking them to the pet shop — I know a lot of Boulderites, and other locals, read this, as well as some real animal lovers.
Anyway, here are the pigs: We’re trying to find good homes for two half sisters/distant cousins, Trinity and Jewel, and their father, Mr. Darcy (the father hopefully separately!). The sisters are almost two years old, and Mr. Darcy is about two and a half. All three are very long-coated tri-colors. They’re all very sweet, especially Mr. Darcy. And the long hair is nice if you want something to brush and take care of 🙂 . We can include a cage(s) if necessary. Email me (or comment) if interested! Here are their picts:

Any luck finding a home for these rascals?
Paradoxdruid - October 31st, 2005 at 10:34 amThat sounds like a quite a cute piggie, since most are skittish and run from you (or at least from me 😉 ).
How old are they versus the average lifespan of 4 to 8 years (wikipedia )?
Paradoxdruid - November 1st, 2005 at 6:14 amNo, not really. After I’m done with the subject GREs (Nov. 12!), I’ll probably spend more time trying to find them some homes…
I worry about Mr. Darcy the most since, even though he is the sweetest and will come over to you to eat veggies right out of your hands (the girls do too — they just hesitate a little), he is a bit older and therefore doesn’t appeal as much to most people…

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.

Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.ÂÂ
