Some jobs are worse than others

Waiter Rant is a fun-to-read blog about the shit that a waiter has to go through at a high-end New York City bistro.  Worth a read, especially if you think your job is bad.

Thanks for the link, Owen! This blog is pretty hilarious, and I’ve only read a few entries. I should send it to my sister– I bet she has some great stories after all of her waitressing experience (some at snobby places).

I am a waitress and have only been working in the restaurant biz for about 4 1/2 years now. I don’t work in a high class restaurant but I do work in a restaurant quite similar to the restaurant featured in the movie, “Office Space.” Yep, I have to act like a retarded kid on speed and happy-go-lucky whatever you want to call it. That’s my job. It’s all acting and when you get a horrible tip or a guest that you wouldn’t mind putting in a headlock so you could get their wallet from them. OR take someone’s kid over your knee and give them a good swat for spitting their mac n cheese out at you for the 15th time that hour….. yeah I hate my job yet I am still doing it. Did anyone read the article featured on aol.com today? It’s about bad tippers and what waiters/waitresses are doing. Some people want an automatic added 20% tip added on the bill so they don’t have to worry about it. I voted yes and can you believe that 86% of the voters voted no? Thank God I don’t have to work today or else someone would be getting my foot up their arse!
