Half-Written Works: The Risen Lands

So, I sometimes like to write. I could write something with mainstream appeal, like a novel or a short story. But more often than not, I end up writing bits and pieces of roleplaying games. 🙂 One such is The Risen Lands, a vaguely Earthsea-esque fantasy game with a truly over-the-top number of races, nations, and ways to perform magic. I still like it, though– at least to me, it seems coherent and exciting. It’s still very much a work in progress, but I thought I’d share it.

Does anyone else have half-written things that they nibble away at?

Thanks for sharing your universe with us. 🙂 It was fun to read. Maybe the next time that you come out to visit you can run a one-shot in this setting for us. I’d love to try out BESM.

I don’t do much writing these days, but we game with some folks who do. Some of the Dice Dogs actually published some role-playing books a few years back, for a Western setting: (http://e23.sjgames.com/credits.html?t=publisher&n=Dog%20House%20Rules)

Thanks for the praise, shortspeedfreak, but my ramblings don’t really compare to Sidewinder: Recoiled, which looks amazing!

If you want to see more fantasy worlds of mine, though, have a look at the session notes (I have 3 more sessions still to upload) for one of my latest campaigns: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=376153

Last week at gaming I mentioned to the Dogs that you wrote a bit and had toyed with getting something published someday. They said that if you ever did decide to try to publish something, they’d be happy to answer questions and offer advice. 🙂

I looked at the notes for your latest campaign and I am SO jealous! I love the games I’m in now, but most of our players prefer combat to political games. And I prefer the political stuff. Ah, well, I’ll just have to live vicariously through you . . .
