Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
Last weekend, duv and I went to Las Vegas to meet up with some of her family, and had a great time! I just finished posting the pictures we took, and wanted to point out a few of them.
Meg can be quite dangerous when threatened:
Apparently, this was my trip to bond with Meg 🙂
What did we do in Vegas? Stay in our hotel playing the Magic card game:

Don’t We Look Happy? And check all the Star-trekkie shirts:
The Las Vegas Airport has cool art:
Gilvoro and I were in Vegas last week! We got there on June 30 and left on July 3. 🙂
We had a lot of fun, though gambling isn’t our thing. We saw three shows, including Blue Man Group, on Para’s recommendation. It was really good. I didn’t know what to expect when we went to it and I’m still not sure I could describe it. We wanted to go to the Star Trek Experience, but we had some hiccups in trying to get there. The Bodies Exhibition was really awesome, though. As were the baby tigers at the Mirage!
ShortSpeedFreak - July 7th, 2008 at 3:39 pmSorry for the delayed response, it’s been a busy week–
So you guys hit Vegas as well. That’s great!
I’m glad you liked the Blue Man Group. 🙂 On the last trip, we saw Mystere, which just makes you marvel at the perfection of body some athletes can achieve.
Paradoxdruid - July 10th, 2008 at 7:20 pmNo worries. I’m still playing catch-up from our trip! It’s amazing how chores pile up, even in our absence. Oh, well. Back to reality.
I wasn’t sure I’d like Vegas, but I’d definitely go again. There’s a lot more to see there than we were able to do in a single trip – including the Star Trek thing.
Mystere was amazing! I loved that it was funny as well as putting athletic ability on display. I laughed so much during that performance – and I loved the snail!
ShortSpeedFreak - July 11th, 2008 at 2:51 pmMystere is still the best of the Vegas Cirques, and the cheapest too!
Ted - July 11th, 2008 at 4:12 pmIf we go back we’ll probably see a different Cirque, but I would highly recommend Mystere to anybody who was considering seeing it. It was way fun.

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.ÂÂ
