Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
So one of them was “hotgoth.net”
That’s right, “Am I Hot or Not” for goths. One of those websites you just gotta go look at when you’ve been drinking a little and are hanging out with friends. Mostly it’s funny (and, if you like blue hair, not all bad), and just… weird. Are these people that serious?
Bizarre . . . that’s all I can say. I didn’t even know that “picture rating site” like that existed. And now that I do, I must run and hide.
ShortSpeedFreak - September 4th, 2004 at 3:50 pmDamn, hotgoth.net showed up again.
And Andrew, somebody got pointed here through a Google search for “taoist thought”. Does that make you proud?
Owen - September 4th, 2004 at 5:56 pmIt does make me proud! I’m sure said searcher was probably sadly disappointed, but nonetheless!
Paradoxdruid - September 5th, 2004 at 1:29 amWow . . . Pigeon Rank is kind of strange . . . So are computer people, though, I must imagine.
I’ll have to try the Textile link sometime. Particularly when I get my hairless kitten. 🙂
ShortSpeedFreak - September 6th, 2004 at 11:49 amHow exactly does Google rank the sites it finds? I mean, there really aren’t that many references to the word “taoist” are there? (And, yes, I realize that with every comment to the conversation we’re adding the word more, and more . . . ). Was this really high enough on the list of websites that somebody came here? Or are there so few sites on the subject (which I find doubtful) that Google felt that this was a good match?
ShortSpeedFreak - September 6th, 2004 at 12:37 amThe PageRank system is pretty bizarre, sometimes… I refer you to “Pigeon Rank”:http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html
Looking through my referrals logs, the search string accessed an archive page of my forum.. my earlier draft of my *Expressing my Taoist, Monist View*. Poor guy, just got one deluded rant, when he probabyl wanted something like “Taoism Information Page”:http://www.clas.ufl.edu/users/gthursby/taoism/
(p.s. if you want cool links like that in your comments, click the Textile link above the comment box and it shows you how to format stuff really easily)

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.ÂÂ
