Today we set out from Kyoto for Koyasan, a village in the nearby mountains that was founded by a Buddhist monk in the 800s AD and now has over 100 Buddhist temples.

Day 3 in Japan: The Imperial Gardens and Shinjuku

Today was a day of much walking in Japan, as we explored the Imperial Palace grounds, the Imperial East Gardens, Shinjuku (a huge shopping district), and generally got our feel for the city of Tokyo.

Our first day of actual stuff in Japan saw us visit Akihabara, the electronics and anime mecca, as well as the Meiji Jingu shrine and Yoyogi Park.

Day 1 in Japan: Made it to our Tokyo hotel!

Our honeymoon in Japan has begun! We’re going to be trying to keep a running travelogue as we go, mostly as a place to share fun pictures that we take.
