Today we set out from Kyoto for Koyasan, a village in the nearby mountains that was founded by a Buddhist monk in the 800s AD and now has over 100 Buddhist temples.

Today we had a day packed full of some of Tokyo’s best fish, gardens, and science! Quite the fun combination.

Today was a day of much walking in Japan, as we explored the Imperial Palace grounds, the Imperial East Gardens, Shinjuku (a huge shopping district), and generally got our feel for the city of Tokyo.

Our first day of actual stuff in Japan saw us visit Akihabara, the electronics and anime mecca, as well as the Meiji Jingu shrine and Yoyogi Park.

Our honeymoon in Japan has begun! We’re going to be trying to keep a running travelogue as we go, mostly as a place to share fun pictures that we take. Our first day was a travel-heavy day: Over 24 hours on airplanes, at airports, or on trains. Read on for quarantine adventures and pictures of our awesome hotel.
