Half-Written Works: The Risen Lands

So, I sometimes like to write. I could write something with mainstream appeal, like a novel or a short story. But more often than not, I end up writing bits and pieces of roleplaying games. 🙂 One such is The Risen Lands, a vaguely Earthsea-esque fantasy game with a truly over-the-top number of races, nations, and ways to perform magic. I still like it, though– at least to me, it seems coherent and exciting. It’s still very much a work in progress, but I thought I’d share it.

Does anyone else have half-written things that they nibble away at?

OrcCon 2007 Run-down (plus Dim-Sum!)

Last weekend I attended my first ever RPG convention– OrcCon 2007. I also had a chanced to sample some truly excellent Dim Sum at VIP Harbor Seafood in West Los Angeles. I would seriously drive back down to LA, just for that food. Really. If you want to read some rambling observations (with a whole bunch of possibly confusing terminology) about the games I played in while at the Con, read on. Otherwise, just know Teisha and I had a great time. And we also had a truckload of delicious Dim Sum.

Santa Barbara Gaming!

Two of the players in our weekly roleplaying sessions have left town now… and then there were five. So, I’m starting to organize efforts to find new gamers in my area to join us. The end result?

Santa Barbara Gaming. A resource to help SB region gamers network and find each other, with a mailing list and such.

Wasting Time, Lesson One

I spend quite a bit of my internet time (and mental activity, so it seems) reading, posting, and thinking about roleplaying games. They’ve always been one of my favorite hobbies. For posterity, I suppose, and in the interests of posting something to this weblog, I thought I’d showcase the extent of my madness. (continued)
